Plaque-walking with Jane

PLAQUE-WALKING WITH JANE

Jane's Walks, in honour of urban environmentalist Jane Jacobs, are held around the world on the first weekend of May. The Belleville group organized six, the most of any city of this size in the world!

Orland French (in yellow and orange vest) led a Jane's Walk on the afternoon of Sunday, May 6 through downtown Belleville. Jane, Orland and about 30 other people visited sites of historical plaques placed last year by the Hasting County Historical Society. This site features the Loyalist Log Cabin and a plaque commemorating Mrs. Simpson's Tavern, one of the earliest buildings in Belleville. The location is at the intersection of Front and Dundas Streets.
