The Hastings County Historical Society started an archival collection when it was established in 1957.  In 2010 the Society’s archives became part of the new Community Archives, which operates in the Hastings Heritage Centre, at the former Thurlow Town Hall in Cannifton, Belleville.

The archival collections at the Heritage Centre include textual records, photographs, maps, newspapers, and other materials that provide information about the people, places and development of Hastings County.  Some highlights are:

Hours of opening: The Heritage Centre is open to the public on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1 pm to 4 pm - other times only by appointment. The Centre is closed on public holidays.

There is no charge for visiting or viewing the archival materials at the Heritage Centre, but donations are appreciated.  We regret that this facility is not wheelchair accessible.

The Hastings Heritage Centre

The new Community Archives is a partnership of the City of Belleville, the County of Hastings, and the Hastings County Historical Society.  The Community Archives will move to a facility in downtown Belleville in 2013.
